5 Stars Out of 5. “Compassionate Health Options is by far the best place to get a medical cannabis recommendation. There are several doctors who work here, but Dr. Hanya Barth is one of the most amazing, caring, and compassionate individuals you will ever meet.

Unlike some of the other places issuing recommendations (in the past I've been to Medicann and Norcal), going to Compassionate Health Options actually felt like a real doctor's visit. I left more knowledgeable and confident about treating my condition in a natural way, and felt like I made more progress in my one visit with Dr. Barth than I have in six months with my psychologist.

The staff was great too. Friendly, laid back, and a great sense of humor, they were extremely helpful and answered all my questions. I can't say enough good things.” –Indie B.

5 Stars Out of 5. “I just had an appointment here to renew my recommendation after a not-so-great experience at MediCann.

This place is amazing! I am so happy I went here and did not go back to where I originally went. The doctor was kind and attentive, and she spent a lot of time talking to me about not just my physical ailments but also life in general. She is a very wise and compassionate woman!

The people working in the office were friendly and helpful. They were able to get me in for an appointment quickly, and answered all my questions. Another plus: the two standard poodles! They're adorable. I will definitely be returning here when I need to renew my recommendation.” –Eva F.

5 Stars Out of 5. “This place is great.  The staff are very polite and helpful. The doctors are very compassionate, and look at the bigger picture. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a medical marijuana evaluation.” –Zach P.

5 Stars Out of 5. “My experience here was awesome!  It was easy to make an appointment for the next day and the staff were friendly and helpful over the phone and in person.  After filling out the questionaire I waited about 10 minutes for my appointment with the doctor and she made me feel very comfortable and had some great things to say.

I would recommend this place to anyone, it has a professional and pleasant atmosphere, really easy to deal with, and it feels like you're going to a real compassionate doctors office.” –Malcolm K.

5 Stars out of 5. “I had a superior experience at this office. There is a staff of ~four working in the lobby to help process paperwork, interview the patients and collect payment. They were really nice and helpful--they will explain anything you need to know.
It took me about half an hour to get through all of the paperwork which was expected. I wasn't rushed or anything. I noticed that everyone going to see the doctor came out with a smile, so I wasn't too nervous. I had a copy of my medical file from my primary care physician; I think that helped greatly.
I shook hands with the good doctor after he called my name. He was very serious and stern during the visit. He questioned me thoroughly about ALL of the paperwork and made sure that the information I had filled in was flawless, and updated it accordingly.
When he escorted me out of the room, he smiled and said, "Have a GREAT year!"
Yes!
At last I received my documents in a snazzy white folder. In my case, I am good to go for a whole year.
When you come to this place, make sure to have a copy of your medical file with evidence of why you want to use cannabis.
I took advantage of the coupon that is on this yelp page and on the back of SF Weekly (they match any local price for the visit--do note that their normal fee is substantial compared to some other great deals out there). Do some research, find out for yourself what the best deal is, and go for it! (you would be ridiculous not to, hello people, figure it out!)
Good luck!” –David C.

5 Stars Out of 5. “This place is really great. The staff is really nice to you on the phone and Dr. Barth is a very friendly person and helped me out with good advice for my gout. I went to another place a few years ago and it was all business and as for "business" it seemed a little shady, if you know what I mean! I had a bunch of questions to ask and the staff was very patient with me and explained everything I needed to know. It wasn't like they just wanted my money. My uncle told me this place was the one to go to because they really want to help people out and give you the information you need.” –Roy N.

5 Stars Out of 5. “Just went to Compassionate Health Options earlier today for the second time. Friends of mine recommended it to me a few weeks ago as the one to go with. Still, I looked around on Yelp to see what the reviews were. Honestly, I was a bit reluctant to go here, since the reviews were somewhat mixed. So, having just left there with my card in hand, I can say that I don't know what the negative reviewers are talking about. In other words, I don't think they know what they're talking about. The price is more or less the same as what you'll find anywhere else. I didn't have my medical records on me when I came in the first time, so I signed a consent form to have my records faxed to the office. In the meantime I was given a temporary recommendation to get medicine at a dispensary. Now it's only a couple of weeks later, my records are at the office, and I went back in and paid twenty bucks for a follow-up visit and my card. I can't see any complaints there. The people that work here are cool, the doctors relaxed and friendly, but professional. I listened as I waited to how they handled the other patients, a few of whom were a bit on the weird side, and all in all I am impressed. I'm going to pass on the good word and tell my friends to come here, and if you're reading this, you should too.” –Don F.

5 Stars Out of 5. “This medical marijuana clinic is awesome. The staff is professional and quick with the paperwork. The pot doctor was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions about Prop 215 and SB 420.

I was in and out during my lunch break. =)  But it didn't feel dirty or cheap like some of the other pot doctors I've seen advertised in the SF Weekly, very professional, punctual, and proper alternative healthcare.

I saw Dr. Deborah Malka in Santa Cruz a couple of years back at Medicann (which was a joke), and when I found out that she started working at Compassionate Health Options I immediately booked an appointment with CHO. Forget the two week wait at Medicann and other medical marijuana evaluation centers, this place even takes walk-ins!

Scheduling an appointment was on the website was easy and simple. And another plus is that dispensaries, storefront collectives, and delivery services can verify my patient status online 24 x 7.

After my medical cannabis evaluation I was given my letter of recommendation and a medical marijuana card. Sweet service, Big Ups.

I'll be seeing them next year.” –Brian H.

5 Stars Out of 5. “Compassionate Health Options is a great medical Cannabis clinic. I have been a patient at the Oakland office for 3 years. Have been seen by different doctors and each one has offered me unique suggestions for improving my health and maintaining optimum wellness. I am young, so I do not have as many chronic conditions as other people but if my existing conditions persist, I will definitely go back to this place.

A clean and friendly environment. Same day appointments are available. Go prepared with medical records and/or medications and you should have no problems!

Highly recommended!” –Lily S.

5 Stars Out of 5. "The staff at Compassionate Health care were very professional, informative and friendly. They put the "passion" in compassionate! They create a warm atmosphere which invites friendly patient interaction. The Doctors explain treatments available and have a wide knowledge of how they work to help you decide which may be best for you. -Jeff G.

5 Stars Out of 5. "When I walked in the front door I was immediately greeted with a smile and a hand shake . . . this says a lot in my opinion. The doctor there was so caring and cool. She actually talked to me about my illness and has been so nice. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great experience and wants to feel like they're actually being cared for...." -Irene D.

5 Stars Out of 5. "I feel very fortunate that Dr. Barth and her colleagues exist. When I wanted to get an evaluation, I checked into a few places. The one up the street was pretty shady . . . more like an infomerical for the next miracle kitchen appliance than a professional establishment. Compassionate Health Options, however, was a real doctor's office. The only difference is that I didn't have to wait 3 months to get an appointment like I do with my primary care physician.  I was lucky enough to walk in and be seen within 10 minutes. Why does it cost more?  You are seeing someone who cares about your health and offers medical help beyond simply printing out a cannabis card.  This is the whole point behind the deregulation of medical cannabis." -Eric S.

5 Stars Out of 5. "While this was only my first visit, it exceeded all my expectations. Online appointment scheduling was a breeze; parking practically in front of the door; clean, comfortable, extremely friendly, professional and efficient; what more could you ask for?  Overall superior experience and I look forward to next year's renewal. Keep up the great work guys!" -Oliver S. F.

4 Stars Out of 5. “I was very pleased with my visit to S.F. SOMA office where I saw Dr. Deborah Malka.  Visit was professional and I got good medical advice in addition to card/recommendation.  It didn't feel like one of those grab-as-much-money-as possible-and run scummy profit mill establishments.” –Deborah G.
